Dr. M. Cristina Ivan is an adult psychiatrist, trained at Baylor College of Medicine, Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Houston, TX. Before becoming a psychiatrist, she trained in Nephrology in Romania and France and Internal Medicine in the US. While practicing as an internist, she became increasingly aware of the negative impact of mental distress on a large variety of medical conditions, and of the positive role of psychological wellbeing on patients' outcomes. Upon graduation from psychiatry residency, Dr. Ivan remained affiliated with Baylor as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry. She provides patient care and teaches residents at Texas Methodist Hospital. Dr. Ivan’s areas of interest are psychoanalytic psychotherapy, spirituality and psychiatry, work-life balance, relationship problems, depression and other mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, grief, loss, aging, psychosomatic disease, and psychological distress caused by medical conditions.
