The third biennial international contemporary art festival in New Orleans features works by 58 artists from around the country and around the world chosen by Artistic Director Franklin Sirmans, Curator of Contemporary Art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), and former Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at The Menil Collection.
From our meeting place at the Newcomb Art Gallery, our group will visit several of the festival's venues around the city of New Orleans, including the French Quarter and the Tremé. A docent from Prospect New Orleans staff will lead the tour, giving us information about the art, artists and the vision for the show itself. We will travel by private luxury motor coach.
A picnic lunch is included, along with all entry fees and bus fares. Travel to and from New Orleans is not included. The Newcomb Art Gallery will be open at 10:00 for participants who wish to tour the gallery before seeing the Prospect.3 exhibit there. Also, participants have the option to visit New Orleans Museum of Art, which will be open until 9:00 P.M. following the tour.
