Salman Rushdie’s The Satanic Verses

THREE TUESDAYS, NOON – 1:30 P.M. NOVEMBER 4, 11 AND 18 | COMPASS BANK, SECOND FLOOR, 2001 KIRBY AT SAN FELIPE

Terrence Doody, professor of English at Rice University, will guide us through The Satanic Verses, Salman Rushdie’s most famous book and the one that brought him death threats from Muslim religious leaders. The novel interlaces observations on the origins of Islam with experiences of an Anglo-Indian emigré in London, providing glimpses of two worlds, one old and one new.
