Brian Connelly will explore important musical moments through three great (and surprisingly different) Viennese pianos.
OCTOBER 21: New Light on Middle-period Beethoven and Late Classicism, 1810 Rosenberger piano; music of Beethoven, Weber, and Schubert.
NOVEMBER 3: The First Romantic Generation, 1840 Bösendorfer piano; music of Robert and Clara Schumann, Chopin, Mendelssohn.
NOVEMBER 18: Brahms and His Circle, 1853 Bösendorfer piano; music of Brahms, Liszt, Dvorak.
Brian Connelly is artist teacher of piano at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, where he also heads the program in piano chamber music. He appears regularly with the period instrument ensemble, Context.
