Photographer, environmentalist, writer Subhankar Banerjee spent two years exploring four thousand miles of stark wilderness in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. This evening he will show vivid slides of his journey and talk about the people, wildlife, and land of the Arctic.
Banerjee’s photographs have been featured in exhibits at California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco; American Museum of Natural History, New York; and Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. His book, Arctic National Wildlife Refuge: Seasons of Life and Land (2003) contains essays by birder and artist David Allen Sibley and nature writer Peter Matthiessen. Banerjee has been awarded a Lannan Fellowship for Cultural Freedom by the Lannan Foundation, Santa Fe, which is underwriting his talk in Houston.
