Brené Brown holds a doctorate in social work and is a licensed social worker. She teaches graduate courses on women’s issues, shame and empathy, and global justice. She has won numerous teaching awards including the Outstanding Faculty Award of the University of Houston College of Social Work. Professor Brown is the author of I Thought It Was Just Me: Women Reclaiming Power and Courage in a Culture of Shame (Gotham, 2007), which will be available in paperback in January 2008.
