In a variety of home settings, pianist Clive Swansbourne will give a series of lecture-performances illustrating the diversity of musical language. He will discuss stylistic, formal, and technical aspects of music from different periods, sometimes concentrating on a single composition in detail.

Clive Swansbourne studied at the Royal College of Music in London and later received his doctorate from the Yale School of Music. He has won prizes in international competitions and performed with orchestras and at music festivals in Europe, Canada, and the U.S. In 1999 he inaugurated an ongoing series of lecture-recitals, “Classical Piano Matters,” for radio broadcast and cassette/CD distribution. In the fall of 2005 he performed the complete Beethoven piano sonata cycle to packed houses at the Rothko Chapel and presented a corresponding lecture series at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
