The Houston Seminar is pleased to offer a highly anticipated encore to the very popular workshop on parenting that was first presented in the spring of 2008. Dr. Brené Brown’s well-deserved reputation as a speaker is built on her ability to explore difficult topics with tremendous sensitivity, honesty, and humor. Based on eight years of ground-breaking research, Dr. Brown will offer a new perspective on the subject of perfect parenting. She has written, “We all know that perfect parenting does not exist; however, we still struggle with the social expectations that teach us that being imperfect is synonymous with being inadequate. It’s not true. It’s actually our ability to embrace imperfection that will help us teach our children to have the courage to be authentic, the compassion to love themselves and others, and a sense of connection that gives true purpose and meaning to life.”

Brené Brown holds a doctorate in social work and is a licensed social worker. She is a member of the research faculty at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work, where she studies shame, empathy, and vulnerability and how these powerful emotions affect the way we live, love, parent, work, and build relationships.
