and the United States

Two Tuesdays, September 26 and October 24; and one Wednesday, November 8, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
Isabella Court, First Floor, 3911 Main Street at Isabella
(Just south of intersection of Main and Alabama; free parking in adjacent lot and on surroundingstreets; three blocks south of the Ensemble/HCC rail stop)

This fall, more than 30 states will elect governors and other state officials, while all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives are up for election, along with 33 U.S. Senate seats. With President George Bush in a ratings rut and hot issues like the war in Iraq and immigration on the table, Republicans risk losing their congressional majorities, and Democrats hope to stage a comeback in Harris County and the Texas legislative races.

Richard Murray, the Bob Lanier Professor of Urban Public Policy and the director of the Center for Public Policy at the University of Houston, will examine state and national political races as they take shape in September and October, and then analyze the results just after the votes are counted in November.
