This fall, more than 30 states will elect governors and other state officials, while all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives are up for election, along with 33 U.S. Senate seats. With President George Bush in a ratings rut and hot issues like the war in Iraq and immigration on the table, Republicans risk losing their congressional majorities, and Democrats hope to stage a comeback in Harris County and the Texas legislative races.
Richard Murray, the Bob Lanier Professor of Urban Public Policy and the director of the Center for Public Policy at the University of Houston, will examine state and national political races as they take shape in September and October, and then analyze the results just after the votes are counted in November.
