(Limited Enrollment)
Leave your luggage at home and enjoy the dizzying array of
contemporary art by award-winning artists at Bush
Intercontinental Airport. Participants will travel by bus on this
early evening tour of Terminals A, B, D, and E for a rare opportunity
to view the site-specific, multi-media installations commissioned for
a variety of public spaces. Carol Laufer,
director of civic art and design for the Cultural
Arts Council of Houston/Harris County, will provide an overview
of the projects and civic art initiatives in general during our journey
to the airport. After we arrive, several of the participating artists
will join us for a behind-the-scenes tour to discuss their specific
installations, providing insight into their concept, design process,
and production.
Following the tour you may wish to join the artists and other participants
for a casual, lively dinner at a local eatery (cost not included in
the tour).
Light refreshments will be furnished during the bus journey.
Participants will be required to
provide basic security information in advance and must have identification
available at the airport.
