Christmas Past and Christmas Present

One Sunday and One Monday, November 18, 4 p.m. and November 19, 7 p.m

What was Christmas like when Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol? Robert L. Patten, Professor of English at Rice University, will describe the "bleak midwinter" of 1843. How can the Carol be made relevant to the present? Following a rehearsal of the play, members of the staff at the Alley Theater will discuss their interpretations.
